Our recommendations:

Livigno: shopping paradise sheltered from VAT. About 1.5 h.away

Samnaun: shopping in Switzerland without VAT application. About 1 h. away (Should think about fuelling there at the arrival or departure, for the very discounted price of gas)

Merano: the most beautiful wellness town of South Tyrol, which can easily be reached by rail from Val Venosta. From Mals journey time: 1h 5 min.away. We highly recommend not only to visit the arcades, but also the thermae, equipped both inside and outside and open all year around. For information: www.thermemeran.it

Innsbruck, the Tyrolean capital. About 1.5 h. away.To see: the beautiful old town, the Alpine Zoo, the Bergiesel and the Imperial Palace.

Passo Stelvio (2757 m): trip that no biker or cyclist training should miss! The road that leads from Prato Passo Stelvio is the path located at an higher altitude, and has about 48 turns, 24 km and a total of 2000 m altitude! In summer they are open to the public ski resorts, while during winter they are closed.
Once a year the road is only open for the transit of bicycles, and this year the appointment is set for 29/08/2009! Participate too! Details on www.ortlergebiet.it
